These rugs are hand-woven in a city in India that is famous for its textile production. The division of labor between spinners, dyers, and weavers is because each task can be carried out on a small scale and there is no need to set up large factories.
Even though they are hand-woven, they are uneven in density because they are woven by hand, giving them a character that cannot be found in mass-produced machine-woven rugs.
